Scarlet Hill Farm is a private, working horse farm with a 10’ wide public trail easement along the treeline with a viewing area at the top of the hill. Please stay on the marked public trail sections only; do not wander into the open fields and pastures for your own safety and the safety of our horses and riders.

Trail Use Guidelines and Safety

PUBLIC TRAIL ACCESS & PARKING:

- THE PUBLIC TRAILS are open from dawn to dusk with occasional closures.
- There is a small parking area at the corner of Shattuck Street and Martin’s Pond Road.
- There is no public trail access or parking at our home/farm entrance on Lowell Rd.
- No motorized trails

TRAIL USE / SAFETY
Please stay on the marked public trails; our tractor paths, fields, and pastures are privately maintained for the use of active farming / working horse farm. Horses are large, strong animals that can be spooked easily by people wandering our trails, putting you, the rider, and the horse in danger.

TRASH
Please take your
trash and dog waste with you. We often have to clean up trash (some items too gross to mention!) on the trails and on our property. Anything you leave will get bailed into hay and can make our horses sick.

OUR HORSES
Please admire the horses from a distance. Do not visit, touch, or feed the horses; do not go into the paddocks or climb the fences.

DOGS
Dogs are currently allowed on the public trails but must be leashed for everyone’s safety. Please clean up after your dogs.

XC SKIING is allowed on the public trails only.

DRESS CODE
It feels very private and romantic at the top of the hill, but trust us, it is not, so please keep your clothes on.

TRAIL MAINTENANCE
If the public trail is not maintained to your liking, please contact the Groton Trails Network to volunteer!
